The expedition
Freedive with tigers at the surface
We plan this experience around the best seasonal conditions for photographing tiger sharks at the surface. Timing depends on weather and shark activity, so flexibility is essential. Our goal is to help qualified guests capture extraordinary photographs while prioritizing safety.
01Experienced guests, six at a time
Six guests in the water, two safety divers at the surface, two safety divers on scuba, a feeder, and TannerUnderwater creating photographs. Level 1 freediver certification is recommended. The tigers are worked at the surface in blue water.
02Three days to maximize encounters
Conditions change quickly here. Three consecutive mornings give us the best opportunity to find favorable conditions for tiger shark encounters, but individual days may be requested.
03You leave with the images
Every guest receives the full edited stills and clips from the expedition. The goal is to create as many memorable photographs as possible with Jupiter’s tiger sharks.
Learn from industry leaders
Explore tiger shark behavior, freediving, and underwater photography while experiencing one of the ocean’s most iconic predators up close.
Your safety is central to the experience. Before entering the water, we cover tiger shark behavior, positioning, and communication with the safety team. Guests must follow crew instructions throughout each encounter, and time in the water depends on conditions and shark behavior. These are wild animals, so every encounter requires awareness, respect, and flexibility.

A note about safety
Diving with tiger sharks is a significant step up from our regular shark dives in Jupiter. These encounters require greater skill, confidence, and experience in the water, as well as the ability to stay calm and follow your guides’ instructions.
Tiger sharks are large, powerful wild animals that may approach closely to investigate divers. Every encounter calls for careful judgment and respect for behavior that cannot be fully predicted. Even experienced guides and careful planning cannot eliminate the risks of swimming with wild sharks.
Why dive with us?
Tanner and Nic bring together years of hands-on experience, exceptional photography, and a deep respect for the sharks we encounter. We take pride in every part of the guest experience, making safety, comfort, and satisfaction a priority from the moment you step aboard.
If you are still building confidence, join Gung-Ho Divers for a regular Jupiter shark dive first. It is an opportunity to practice, assess your comfort in the water, and let the crew help you decide whether this tiger shark experience is an appropriate next step.
